Moto G 2014 and Moto G : A Comparison

The first Moto G was launched in 2013 and recorded the most sold devices in India through Flipkart

Motorola has gained a larger share of Indian Mobile Market with its Cost Efficient Moto G, which offers high end features at a budget price. It was one of the most sold smartphones in that category in 2013. Offering a great specs at a lower price tag of 12000-14000 Moto G has won many hearts in the indian market, crushing all others in that price range. While Moto E was even more a surprise to all, Moto G was the one which had been launched first. It took almost many months for any other mobile giant to launch their product in that price tag. Now with overwhelming competition from brands like Xiaomi, Sony and Asus in that price range, Moto has revived its Moto G with new styling and added specs, naming it as the New Moto G 2014 Edition. Although Motorola exclaimed it as a successor of Moto G, it was clear after looking at the specs of G2 that most of them were merely derived from the former. Both the devices share the same features in the following:

  1. Both run on a 1.2 GHz Quadcore Processor.
  2. Even the Chipset was Snapdragon 200, which is same for the two
  3. The display is IPS for both.
  4. The sensors weren't made any improvements.
  5. Both the devices come with Motorola Apps like Migrate, Alert, Assist
  6. The Front Camera is still 2MP for both
  7. Both possess Stock Android Kit Kat 4.4.4 (Moto G has now got the Update)

The New Moto G 2014 is proclaimed to be an advancement of Moto G 2013

While most of the internal specs seem similar to the former model, few things have changed. A Brief Comparison of Both the Devices:
  1. Moto G has increased its display from 4.5 inch to a 5 inch IPS display, which is a 720p resolution.
  2. While the internal memory has been fixed at 16 GB, the phone has a Micro SD slot which can support up to 32GB of storage.
  3. The camera sensor has been improved from 5 MP to 8 MP autofocus, which can capture videos of up to 720p HD resolution.
  4. The phone possesses dual speaker below the screen, in Moto E fashion.
  5. The phone comes with Android Kitkat 4.4 while Motorola has promised that the phone would get Android L update.
